Background

Meltystars Pixelfed is a small Pixelfed instance providing users with the ability to post content, primarily images, that can be accessed by other users using instances that support ActivityPub.

Key Facts

• The server offering this service is located in France.
• The server administrator, Feff, is a citizen of the United Kingdom.
• Feff is the only administrator for Meltystars.
• Any account posting content via Meltystars Pixelfed must be manually verified and approved by Feff prior to being allowed to post content.
• No one accessing Meltystars.xyz from it's front page can see any content on Meltystars Pixelfed.
• Content that can be harmful to children, but is not illegal, is required to be hidden behind Content Warnings and tagged appropriately. These content warnings blur any images and hide any text associated with the image until the user dismisses the warning.
• Feff makes use of the Spam Detection features built into Pixelfed to flag and review posts. Posts flagged by Spam Detection are automatically unlisted (i.e. will not appear on public timelines) until reviewed.
• The Spam Detection feature also works on posts that have Content Warnings applied.
• Feff also makes use of the Pixelfed moderation tools to ban and remove accounts that post Illegal Content.
• Unlike most other Pixelfed instances, photographic posts are not encouraged.
• Feff subscribes to lists provided by about.iftas.org to defederate Meltystars from instances likely to contain illegal and harmful content.
• Pixelfed provides methods for other users to report illegal and harmful content posted by users of Meltystars to Feff.
